I need to start this review by saying I haven’t tried this hairdryer personally yet but I REALLY want too!!  I have been hearing so much about it and love my ghd Air hairdryer, so I cannot wait to try ghd’s latest offering.  So what have I heard …

Well, the majority say it is absolutely fabulous, as I had hoped!  Exceptionally powerful, offering possibly the quickest blow dry ever.  The contoured nozzle attachment means you can concentrate the airflow, getting the sleekest of finishes.  Like most new high end hair dryers, this one utilises ionic technology to neutralise frizs.  ghd have excelled in the aesthetics of the Helios – available in 5 different colours – mint, white, black, plum and blue with accents of either gold, silver and black, it looks great.  The variable power and temperature controls, including the cool shot button are well placed on the handle and the lower temperature option coupled with the power seem to suffice to dry most people’s hair without the need for a potentally damaging higher heat.   The cool button has repeatedly received praise as it seems to switch to cool faster than other hairdryers enabling you to set your style and shine. I’m sure there are many other positives for this fab hairdryer but for now, my final mention goes to the 3m long cord – sometimes not top of the ‘must haves’ list but it sounds like it makes hairdrying a lot easier.

The main disappointment appears to be the lack of diffuser.  This was especially disappointing for curly hair reviewers who were not looking for the sleek, straight look best achieved with the accompanying nozzle.  The good news is a diffuser can be purchased but it costs an additional £29.

This is certainly a luxury hairdryer at a high end price but those that love ghd (like me), should love the Helios.  Great technology, ensuring a great blow dry.  To cement the general consensus that this will last a long time, it comes with a 2 year manufacturer’s guarantee.
